As a DevOps Engineer within the Self Service & Data Science team, you’ll be working closely with security and infrastructure experts. You’ll be contributing to bringing business value across all asset management domains. You’ll work in an agile team that is continuously looking to improve their performance in order to process the requested business changes as intelligently as possible. You’re a sparring partner for your co-workers when it comes to architecture and long-term vision.

About the team

The main function of the Agile Self Service & Data Science (SS&DS) team is to design, build and maintain a range of self-service and data science support tools to perform data analysis, data preparation and visualizations. The need for support from our business users such as traders, portfolio managers, risk managers and investment analysts is increasing. The Self Service and Data Science team works closely with these business users and helps them digitalize their work in a professional manner.

SS&DS is a fast-growing area and one of APG's most important strategic growth pillars for the coming years. As this field is constantly changing, creativity, collaboration, a technical mindset and quick learning capabilities are essential qualities.


Your skills

Your skills We’re looking for an enthusiastic 'T-shape' team player, who understands the technology and can test new functionalities. A good candidate is experienced in creating solution designs, enjoys working in a dynamic and changing environment and likes to come up with new ideas.

The DevOps Engineer we’re looking for is solution-oriented and focused on discerning opportunities. Someone with a pragmatic attitude, who naturally takes ownership and responsibility. We want you to book results without sacrificing quality.


  • Degree (preferably a Masters) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant field
  • Five years of relevant work experience
  • Currently living and working in the Netherlands
  • Hands-on experience with the current technology: QlikSense, Alteryx, RStudio, writing code in R/Python
  • Solid knowledge of developments in the field of data science and a good understanding of IT infrastructures and different types of cloud services
  • Experience in quickly solving complex problems, and in making new frameworks and implementations your own
  • A clear interest in financial markets and responsible investing
  • Strong persuasive skills
  • Excellent communicative skills in English (orally and in writing), preferably also in Dutch
  • Broad and relevant work experience within an Agile environment, if possible experienced in working according to the principles of the Agile SAFe® framework.
