About the Challenge

The company is a deep tech startup based in Ghent. With their cutting-edge technology they offer GPU processing power in the cloud. The bottom line is that experts like architects, (game) designers and engineers can run very heavy applications from less powerful computers. 

And in this niche, the company is the world leader!

We’re looking for a techie who wants to work on the backbone that powers this deep tech.

As a back-end developer your job is to:

  • Participate in determining the scope of new projects.
  • Understand the business needs and technical requirements and create web applications with clean, well-documented code.
  • Review user stories, requirements, test plans and other engineering artifacts.
  • Provide feedback, on time and in a constructive way.

Your skills

Besides your laptop and headphones, your backpack contains: 

  • Substantial knowledge of back-end (NodeJS, MongoDB, SQL and AMQP).
  • A good understanding of common software engineering practices (Git, unit testing, code documentation, continuous integration, dependency management) and database design concepts and linux distributions. 
  • A comprehension of web technologies (HTTP, HTTP/2, WS,..) and API development (JSON, OAuth, …).
  • The ability to translate functional requirements into qualitative code.

A first on-the-job experience with these skills is a must.

Besides these back-end hard skills, you…

  • Are motivated to work in a start-up mentality with deadlines and priorities. 
  • Have the ability to formulate concerns and questions in a structured manner.
  • Are a team player willing to share your knowledge when necessary.
  • Are problem solver with excellent troubleshooting skills. 
  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
